Eagles dominate the D-5 District to look strong headed into state

The Nebraska Christian track and field teams delivered a strong performance at the D-5 district track meet in Burwell, with the boys team finishing as runner-up and the girls team securing the title of district champion.

On the men's side, the Eagles claimed several top spots. Sophomore Brody Flynn clinched first in the 800-meter varsity finals with a personal best time of 2:06.16. Freshman Jacob Swanson outran his competition in the 3200-meter race with a time of 10:35.16, and the 4x800 relay team, featuring Flynn, sophomore Noah Fischer, senior Riley Schreiber, and Swanson, triumphed with a time of 8:42.86.

Senior Gabe Langemeier showed his strength in the shot put, securing a personal record and first place with a throw of 46-03.00. Junior Micah Perdew soared to victory in the high jump with a personal best of 6-02.00. Sophomore Vendell Juzyk excelled in the triple jump, taking the top spot with a leap of 42-09.50.

In the women's competition, the Eagles' success was marked by multiple first-place finishes. Freshman Emma Rathjen shone in the 800-meter race, finishing first with a personal best time of 2:29.56. Junior Hannah Swanson took the victory in both the 1600-meter and 3200-meter races with times of 5:41.08 and 12:11.29, respectively.

Freshman Sheridan Falk demonstrated her speed and agility by winning the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.09. She also captured first in the long jump with a leap of 17-00.75. Another first place was seized by Taytum Perdew in the triple jump, reaching a distance of 33-11.50.

The girls 4x800 relay team, consisting of senior Reghan Flynn, Rathjen, sophomore Isabelle Brumbaugh, and sophomore Gracie Hackel, took the top spot with a time of 10:29.35.

These performances at the D-5 district track meet highlight the strength and depth of the Nebraska Christian track and field teams as they continue their successful season. A season that will pick back up next Friday and Saturday when the team will be in contention for multiple individual and team awards at the NSAA State Track and Field Championships at Omaha Burke High School.
