Thomas E. Blodgett, 72, of Central City, died on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at his home surrounded by family. Memorial services were held on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Gordon Paulsen officiating.

Burial of ashes will be held at a later time.

Tom was born on June 14, 1953 to Keith and Catherine (Bolling) Blodgett in Central City. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1971. He was united in marriage to Shelley Larsen in December of 1972, and to this union were two daughters, Sarah and Shannon. On July 11, 1998 Tom got remarried to Nancy (Payton) Snodgrass in Central City. Tom worked laying carpet, until starting the local pawn shop in Central City. He then drove school bus parttime, and as a rural route mail carrier from 2007 until his retirement in 2021. He was also very involved with the State Theater in Central City for many years with his family. When he wasn’t working Tom enjoyed classic cars, guns, and antiques, but his greatest love was getting to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central City. He was also a member of the NRCA, the local tractor club, and Central City Sportsman’s Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy of Central City; his children, Sarah (Josh) Hood of Central City, Shannon (Adam) Ward of Crete, Rebecca Thomas of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, and Jeanie (Shawn) Henk of Columbus; his grandchildren, Sera, Kaleb, Ella, Liam, Tyler, Ranae, James, Dominick, Kenden, Nash, Hallie, Andrew, Gracie, and Joey; his great-grandchildren, Emalyn, Raylin, and Bella; his siblings, Linda Blodgett of Lincoln, Ken Blodgett of Central City, Pat (Tammy) Blodgett of Central City, Craig (Mandie) Blodgett of Central City, and Kirk (Jody Davis) Blodgett of Clarks; and his two sisters-in-law, Dawn Blodgett of Central City and Linda Blodgett of Central City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Steve and Thad Blodgett, and infant sisters, Marcia and Renee Blodgett.
