Marsela was born on July 10, 1934 to Stanley and Dorothy (Ruge) Svitak in Chapman. She grew up in the Central City area and graduated from Central City High School. After high school, Marsela went to work at the dental office of Dr. Scott. She was then united in marriage to LeRoy Rudolf on August 15, 1954 at Archer Zion Methodist Church.

To this union were born two daughters, Kathryn and Tina. Marsela and LeRoy made their home in Gage County for a few years, before returning to the Rudolf family farm near Palmer in 1962. Marsela helped LeRoy on the farm and raised their two daughters until they were in high school. She then began working as a cook at the Coolidge Center in Palmer before getting a job at Litzenberg Hospital in Central City. Marsela worked in housekeeping there for many years, until her retirement. She then moved to Central City in September of 2020 where she remained until moving to Tiffany Square in Grand Island.

Marsela was a member of Palmer Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and volunteered for many years at the thrift store in Central City. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, crocheting, and doing embroidery. She especially loved to mow her large yard on the farm, and her cats. Her favorite cat was “Dottie” who was given to her by her granddaughters. Her greatest love of all was spending time with her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Kathryn “Kathy” (Bill) Stovall of Palmer and Tina (Joe) Dush of St. Libory; her sisters, Levada Nielson of Chapman, Norma Neemeyer of Belgrade, and Vera Kracman of Bellwood; and her two beloved granddaughters, Allison Dush of Boston, Massachusetts and Clair Redman of Kearney.

Marsela was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Richard Svitak.
