February 23, 1932 - July 10, 2024

Lucille Nordstrom, 92, of Grand Island, formerly of Central City, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Tiffany square. Graveside services will be Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Central City Cemetery with Pastor Kurt Coleman officiating. There will be no visitation and burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Society, Central City Volunteer Fire Department, or the Senior Center. Condolences can be sent to the family at www. soltwagnerfuneral.com.

Lucille was born on February 23, 1932. Lucille was the fifth of nine children born to Joseph and Rose Klepetko Nouzovsky of Central City. After graduating in 1950 from Central City high school, she worked at Hested’s Dime Store. It was during this time that a serviceman, Robert Nordstrom, came in and noticed her. They were married in Stromsburg on December 31st 1953. They lived in Stromsburg, where two girls were born, Kristy and Susan.

The family moved to Central City in 1962, and Lucille worked for Randy’s meats for 11 years. She then worked at the Merrick Manor Retirement home for 26 years. She was named employee of the month in February 1983 at Merrick Manor. She also worked at May and Kay’s Restaurant and then took up cleaning houses for residents around town.

Lucille enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, crocheting, country music, dancing, and working in her garden and flower beds. Her specialty was baking kolaches! She was a member of the eagle club for many years.

She continued to live in her own home and then East Bader Villa until she moved to Riverside Lodge in October 2021. Her health forced her to go to Tiffany Square a few weeks ago.

She was being cared for by her nephews and nieces, Dave and Linda Shenk, Ida Quisenberry, and Darren Shenk.

She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Renke of Riverside CA, sisterin- law Patty Nouzovsky of Grand Island; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two daughters, her special care giver David Shenk, Seven brothers and sisters and other nieces and nephews.
