Gloria “Jean” Hutton, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, on November 18, 2022, at her home in Holdrege.
A family inurnment for Gloria “Jean” Hutton will be held at a later date at the Central City Cemetery in Central City. The family is honoring Jean’s wish for cremation.

Jean was born in Omaha on October 24, 1943, the second of four children, born to Marion and Gwendolyn (Willeman) Ryan. She received her education from Central City High School and graduated with the class of 1961. Jean pursued higher education and received a teaching degree from Kearney State College.
Following her education, Jean worked at Dodge Elementary School in Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1973 Jean moved to Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and taught remedial reading in Versailles, Illinois.
On February 14, 1986, Jean was united in marriage to Larry Hutton in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, and Larry helped raise Jean’s two daughters, Kelly and Traci. In 1996 the family moved to Las Vegas and in 2003 they moved to Holdrege to be closer to family.
Jean enjoyed bird watching, genealogy, stamp collecting, gardening, and reading. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; one sister in infancy, Patricia Ryan.
Jean is survived by her husband, Larry Hutton of Holdrege; two daughters and one grandson: Kelly Codner and her son Jake Nelson, of Cortez, Colorado; Traci Codner-Rumschlag and her husband Sam, of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, Chuck Ryan and his wife Linda, of Central City; one sister, Marilyn Thompson and her husband Kenton, of Holdrege; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
