Cecilia was born on October 13, 1953 to Albert and Lucille (Morland) Utter in Anaheim, California. She was a proud California girl where she grew up and graduated from Orland High School in 1972. Cecilia soon thereafter took on the role of an Army wife and mother as she welcomed her first child in Oregon and later her second in Germany. In 1982 she took on the role of a single mother and with great bravery moved her children to Central City where they remained for years to come. Later that decade she welcomed a third child with open arms just as she did two decades later with her two bonus children who she fostered and considered her own. Cecilia was blessed with a love for people and she made many close friends at every stop on her journey. Her greatest chance encounter by far was crossing paths with Albert James one fateful night as the couple formed a bond that would last up until her death. Cecilia’s career life played on her strengths of compassion and connection as she held multiple jobs in the healthcare industry. She also was recognized as a top canvasser and was awarded multiple trips during a career with the Kirby Vacuum Company.

Cecilia’s greatest joy in life came from her family. From her humble roots of being the eleventh of twelve children to building a life complete with her own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She held a great fondness for all of her nieces and nephews, extended family and all those who she accepted into her life as family. Cecilia was born with a heart of gold and a bit of a gypsy soul leading her to make many special friends in the communities that she called home during her life. Her family and friends were always her top priority in life and as long as she had them, her morning coffee, a cigarette and a fountain pop, all was right in the world. Those left to cherish her memory are her partner: Albert James of Fullerton, her children: Tracie Dettman of Marysville, KS, James (Victoria) Hammond Jr. of Agenda, KS, Justin Jackson and girlfriend Lauren Sadler of Fort Collins, CO, Brian Petersen and Jade Clark of Chapman, and Anthony Utter, stepson, Travis Harms, her grandchildren; Ryan (Whitney) Dettman, Malorie (Nate) Bloomquist, Chase Dettman, Trey Hammond, Bernie and Savannah Tarrent, five great-grandchildren, son-in-law Randy Dettman and a sister Karen Vanderschuere of Tillamook, OR.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Albert and Lucille Utter, her cherished siblings; Billie, Chuck, Tom, Jerry, Paul, Don, Mike, Loretta, Mary and Patrick; Ronda Fishler, and many other beloved family members and friends.
