Wallace Gilbert Larson was born on July 6, 1935 to Irvin and Astrid (Johnson) Larson in Hordville. Wally attended District 74 School until the 8th grade, when he attended and graduated from Hordville High School in 1953. On June 14, 1959 Wally was united in marriage to Marlene M. Anderson at the Polk United Methodist Church. They made their home in Lexington, where Wally worked for a local farmer. Then in 1960 they moved back to Hordville where he drove the tank wagon, hauling diesel. In 1966 they moved to Stromsburg where he took over the Mobile Oil business in town. In 1975 he then sold his business and started farming and raising livestock. In 1987, Wally started Larson Metal, where he continued to help out, until he moved to the nursing home in September of this year.

Wally was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg, as well as the Lions Club and he was a Mason. He really enjoyed collecting and restoring old tractors. He was a big Kansas City Royals and Chicago Cubs fan. He also enjoyed getting to travel with the Fun Club out of York, but his greatest love was getting to spend time with his family, especially watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; Marlene of Stromsburg, his children; Scott (Terri) Larson of Stromsburg, Steve (Jody) Larson of Stromsburg, and Shelli (Craig) Hackenkamp of Stromsburg, his sister; Marlene Spires of Central City, his grandchildren; Tyler, Lacey, Emily, Brandon, Ashley, Justin, Chase, and Kayla, and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson; Mickey Larson, one granddaughter; Lindsay Larson, and a brother-in-law; Frank Spires.
