Hilde was born in Ohlau, Germany (now known as Olawa, Poland) on January 16, 1939, to Arthur Wilhelm Neutert and Margarete Elisabeth nee Haase. Known for her fierce bravery, strong will and unwavering determination, these qualities were forged from losing her mother at an early age and life’s challenges in post-World War II. These qualities undoubtedly helped her navigate coming to a country where she didn’t speak the language and adapting to a small farming community. Hilde met her husband, John, who was on a military assignment just outside of Donauworth, Germany. She spoke little English, he spoke little German, but they didn’t let that stop them. They married on November 24, 1959, and came to Central City in 1962 to manage the Pawnee Farms after John’s father passed.

Over her sixty-six-year marriage to John, she was a devoted mother to Mary, Steve, Mark, Heidi, and Todd, a proud grandmother to Nathan, Jaysen, Emily, and Wyatt, and a tender great grandmother to Declan.

Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered, which undoubtably led her to become a prominent member of the Litzenberg Memorial Hospital community for over forty years as a nurse’s assistant. Having taken care of nearly everyone in Central City and nearby communities, we still hear many stories of her compassionate care and her crazy German accent. She enjoyed lady’s clubs, bowling, and traveling to whatever adventure John took her. Hilde, a die-hard Cornhusker fan, loved to watch football and volleyball. Never missing a game, she so passionately cheered for her teams from her favorite armchair. A private and quiet person, Hilde had sharp but playful wit. Fearless, independent, sensitive, and compassionate are all words that we would use to describe her. She was a kind, caring soul that impacted many, but most importantly us. She will be forever missed.

Hilde is survived by her children, Mary Albright, Steve Fishler and life partner Samantha Brooks, Mark Fishler, Heidi Fishler and husband Shannon Trice, and Todd Fishler and wife Tamar Fishler; Grandchildren, Nathan Albright, Jaysen Albright and life partner Becky Boone, Emily and husband Ashton Francis, and Wyatt and wife Brittany Fishler; great-grandchild, Declan Fishler; and niece and great-niece of Germany, Caroline and Christian Frey and Kathrin and Michael Gotzfried.

Hilde was proceeded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, John Fishler; parents, Arthur Wilhelm and Margarete Elisabeth Neuter; sisters, Ilse, Elisabeth, and Gisela; and brothers, Gunther, Werner, Gerhard, and Helmut.
