David was born on February 10, 1948 in Grand Island to Virgil and Mary Jane (Omey) Sorensen. Dave attended grade school at St.

Michael’s in Cairo and Wood River, as well as Grand Island Senior High. He later received his GED. In 1968, Dave was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in Germany and Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1970. He then lived in Grand Island and worked as a diesel mechanic for TFS for several years. He was united in marriage to Linda Grice, and they had two sons, David and Kevin. Dave then worked for Rawhide Carriers. He was then united in marriage to Dorothy Brewer on February 14, 1993 in Hastings, where they would welcome a daughter, Lisa. They then made their home in Central City where Dave worked for Knight Brothers for several years, as well as Bill’s Volume. His health no longer allowed him to work, but he did have his own mechanic shop in Archer for a while.

Dave enjoyed fishing, camping, grilling, but he always loved being a mechanic. He had a strong faith in the Lord and cherished his relationship with Jesus Christ. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion, as well as the NRA.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, David (Melissa) Sorensen of Hastings, Kevin (fiancée Lisa Medina) Sorensen of Fullerton, and Lisa (Jacob Stibolt) Vesely of Central City; and his grandchildren, Christian Vesely, Amanda Lou Sorensen, Tessa and Kayla Miles, Emma Brewer, McKenna Sorensen, Brooklynn Sorensen, and Nicholas Sorensen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and his siblings, Virgil Sorensen, Clara Moody, Jeanette Kriley, and Debbie Grant.
