Darlene was born on the family farm in Polk County on April 12, 1927, to her loving parents, Ossian “Pete” and Florence Stromberg. To this family were six children: Hollis, Mervin, and Wayne Stromberg, Jeanette Colson, Joyce Marker West, and Darlene. At the age of six years old the family moved to Clarks and attended Clarks Public School, graduating from high school in 1944.

School was a happy time, sharing time with friends and working after school as a waitress in Clarks.

Darlene met the love of her life, Clifford Soll, while he was home on leave from the United States Army. They were married on August 3, 1947—spending sixty- three wonderful years together. They were blessed with three children; Sandra Kay (Fran) Dittmer, Dale Allen (Deb) Soll, and Douglas (Trudy) Soll; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Darlene loved their home—with her husband, children, and grandchildren getting to care for them and spending time together. She also loved baking rolls, cooking, crafts, and watching movies on television. She especially enjoyed having coffee with her friends and neighbors.

In her life she worked for several years on a great program OEO— working with Ruth Powell. She also worked for twenty-three years as a CSM in nursing at Bethesda Care Center in Central City. She loved her work and caring for the residents.

Darlene gives Thanks to God for the many blessings in her life she shared.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers; and sisters.
