Phyllis A. Hopwood, 86, of Palmer, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.

A graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton, with Pastor Mark Hartley officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Palmer- Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Phyllis was born April 3, 1939, in Central City, to Lumer and Helen (Svitak) Pelican. She graduated from Central City High School in 1957 and, in July of that year, was united in marriage to Glenn Hopwood. They shared sixty- four years of marriage and were blessed with three children: Glenn, Constance, and Phillip.

In 1967, Glenn and Phyllis moved to Colorado, where she worked in accounting at GE for many years before retiring. Following her retirement, she taught accounting at Barnes Business College in Denver. In 1994, the couple returned to Palmer, and Phyllis began working at Contryman Associates in Central City, where she continued until retiring a few years ago. After returning to Palmer, they also raised registered Shetland ponies, traveling across the country to show, carriage drive, and deliver ponies.

Phyllis’s true passion was raising her horses and attending horse shows with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and also enjoyed reading.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Glenn “Dan” Hopwood of Central City; her daughter, Connie (Don) Krauss of Central City; grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Hopwood of Aurora, Colorado, Neal (Lisa) LeBlanc of Lincoln, Phillip Hopwood of England, and Jenny (Seth) Nagel of Aurora, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Diamond and Everett LeBlanc, Nikolas and Payton Hopwood, and Vivienne, Sammy, and Luca Nagel; her ex-daughter in-law, Peggy Korbell of Parker, Colorado; her sister, Josephine (Gorden) Petersen of Denison, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ruth Hagman of Broken Bow, Patty Wilhelmi of Grand Island, and Margaret Hopwood of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hopwood; her son, Phillip Leroy Hopwood; her parents; and brothersin- law, Rolland Hopwood, George Hagman, and Ralph Wilhelmi.
