On May 23, the Friday before Memorial Day, a new commemorative plaque honoring the crew of the USS Merrick was established at the new Merrick County Historical Museum. The plaque was put up on a pillar in the main lobby facing the showroom, so anyone exited will be able to see the metal memorial on their way out.
