Merrick Medical Center Announces Jodi Mohr as New CEO
Merrick Medical Center (MMC), a cornerstone of health in Central City, embarks on a new chapter as Jodi Mohr takes the helm as Chief Executive Officer starting June 24, 2024. Mohr's appointment comes at a pivotal time following a period of significant change and development at MMC.
The past few years have been dynamic for MMC, marked by leadership changes and strategic advancements. Patrick Avila, who began his tenure as CEO in August 2020, played a crucial role during a transformative era, overseeing the construction of a new multi-million dollar critical access facility and spearheading efforts to enhance community relationships and service lines. His departure in September 2023 to pursue a new career opportunity initiated a search for a new leader.
Julie Lacy, with her extensive 25-year background in healthcare management, served as the interim CEO, bridging the gap with her seasoned expertise. Her tenure underscored MMC's commitment to continuity and excellence in healthcare service. Lacy's role as Chief Financial Officer for Crete Area Medical Center and previous positions within Bryan Health contributed to a smooth transition, emphasizing the center's resilience and adaptability.
Jodi Mohr steps into this role with a rich history of healthcare management and a profound connection to the community. Patrick Ganyo, system vice president of rural services at Bryan Health, expressed enthusiasm for Mohr’s leadership: “Jodi will be an outstanding leader for Merrick Medical Center and we’re excited to welcome her to the Bryan family. She has a tremendous passion for making a positive impact on local patient care. Her drive will greatly benefit Central City and the surrounding communities.”
With over seven years at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings and extensive experience in imaging leadership, Mohr brings a blend of operational excellence and collaborative spirit to MMC. Her educational background, coupled with her deep roots in Central City, positions her as a leader attuned to the needs and aspirations of the community.
Reflecting on her new role, Mohr shared her commitment to building on MMC’s legacy: “Living in Central City, I’ve seen first-hand Bryan’s commitment to the people of our community and Merrick Medical Center. I’m honored and humbled to now lead the outstanding team at MMC. Between our new facility, outstanding providers, and staff, we have everything we need to be successful. Every day, we’ll be working together to provide better health and care for the people we serve.”
As Merrick Medical Center looks to the future, Mohr’s leadership heralds a continued dedication to healthcare excellence and community well-being. Her vision, grounded in experience and community ties, promises to guide MMC through its next phase of growth and innovation, ensuring that Central City and its surroundings remain a focal point of her efforts to enhance patient care and services.
