We Apologize: A Note From Your Publisher
There was some information that I didn't include in this week's newspaper that I thought we would share here to help get the word out to our loyal readers as soon as possible. As some of you have already experienced, it came to us as a shock to learn that many of our customers are now experiencing mail delays when receiving their newspaper. We want to let you all know that we are deeply sorry for the delay even though it is out of our control, and we are working on ways to help.
I want to first say that our local post office staff is outstanding to work with. They have always been great and continue to put their customer's needs first. We have much respect for all those that work locally. On a federal level, rate increases have hit periodicals hard. Many small newspapers are feeling the impact greatly including our own. We made the decision to increase subscription rates last year, but in hindsight, perhaps we need to explore another already. We can handle increasing rates, but an extra day delay in delivery of your newspaper is something that we can not move forward with. At this time we do not know what the answer is, but we are sure to explore printing a day sooner, local hand delivery and all other methods of finding a solution.
What can you do currently? Be sure that you are signed up for an online subscription. One comes with your print subscription at no additional charge. Look on this webpage or call or office for assistance. Our online edition of the newspaper is posted each Wednesday at 6pm. Unfortunately many of our local readers are not getting the physical copy until Friday. Our out of town customers are seeing even further delays. We will continue to provide you with the news and look for ways to get that news to you in a timely fashion. As always, thank you for reading. -Ryan
