Lone Tree Days ‘23 kicks off
Central City is gearing up for a nearly week-long celebration of community spirit and entertainment as Lone Tree Days 2023 approaches. From Thursday, June 29, to Tuesday, July 4, the Central City Area Chamber of Commerce has organized a lineup of activities that promise to bring joy and excitement to residents and visitors alike.
The festivities kick off on Thursday, June 29, with the highly anticipated Family Fun Night. Sponsored by Merrick Medical Center and Pinnacle Bank, families can enjoy a delightful evening at North Park, featuring a hot dog supper, live music, and a kids’ zone with bounce houses.
On Friday, June 30, the Central City community is encouraged to “Pack the Pavement” in support of local businesses. The Independent Club is sponsoring Brisket Night, serving mouthwatering brisket starting at 5 pm until it runs out. Residents can explore the citywide garage sales for hidden treasures and cap off the night with the Annual Fireman’s Dance starting at 8 p.m at the Independent Club.
Saturday, July 1, promises to be a fun-filled day with various events throughout Central City. Sports enthusiasts can head to Central Park for the 3-on-3 Basketball and cornhole tournaments, while those looking for unique shopping experiences can visit All the Things Boutique for a chance to print their own shirt and receive a free gift for the first 25 people. Additionally, the Farmers Market, sponsored by Wild Roots Greenhouse will be open from 9 am to 1 pm, offering fresh produce and local crafts.
Families will have plenty of options for entertainment, including the Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest, the Pinwheels Kids’ Craft event organized by Central City Public Library, and the Annual Teddy Bear Picnic, hosted by Merrick County Historical Society. For baseball enthusiasts, Kernel Field will be the place to be as Post 6 Legion Baseball teams, Juniors and Seniors, face off in exciting games at 1 pm and 3:30 pm, respectively.
On Sunday, July 2, the 9th Annual State Theater Car & Motorcycle Show, sponsored by State Theater Foundation, will showcase a stunning collection of vehicles. Registration for participants runs from 9:30 am to 12 pm, and the show itself will take place from 11:30 am to 3 pm on the State Theater block. Visitors can also grab a delicious lunch at the Good Life Center from 11 am to 1 pm, conveniently located near the car show.
The grand finale of Lone Tree Days 2023 takes place on Tuesday, July 4, with the much-anticipated Annual Parade. Sponsored by the Central City Area Chamber, the parade will commence at 7 pm, starting from Highway 14 (28th St) and proceeding to the Courthouse on 17th St. Following the parade, an ice cream social fundraiser, organized by Central City EMS, will take place until the spectacular fireworks display, sponsored by Central City Volunteer Fire Department, lights up the sky at Merrick County Fairgrounds.
