Remembering Angela: By Ryan Dettman
A press release from the Nebraska State Patrol reads:
The Nebraska State Patrol, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Hamilton County Attorney are able to release additional information regarding the investigation into a homicide that occurred in Marquette.
The investigation began at approximately 12:45 p.m. Sunday, when the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at a residence of 502 Carnahan Street in Marquette. Inside the home, the Sheriff’s Office located a deceased woman, identified as Angela Adams, 49. The Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.
Investigators learned that Adams had been with her husband, Jeffrey Adams, Saturday evening, but he was not at the home when authorities arrived to investigate the incident. A short time later, Jeffrey Adams arrived at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to turn himself in. He was arrested by Nebraska State Patrol investigators.
Investigators have determined that the incident began with an argument, during which Jeffrey Adams struck Angela Adams multiple times. Jeffrey Adams then left the home. Adams, 47, has been lodged in Hamilton County Jail for second degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
A heartbreaking ending to a life that produced so much joy and happiness for all those who knew Angela as a friend or family. We here at the Republican-Nonpareil send our condolences to all those effected by this senseless crime. Angela leaves behind children and many other family members and friends who are now left devastated. Those who knew her are sure to remember her bright smile and genuine love for those around her.

I have a personal connection to Angela dating back to when I was just a kid. Angela entered into my life and looking back I am sure glad that she did. From her I gained a great love for the band Metallica, but the greatest gift that she ever gave to me was my brother.
Having half-siblings can be difficult and of course there is bound to be tough times that arise. In the years that I have known Angela she has always been supportive of me and much to my surprise was even a faithful subscriber to this newspaper. She would even share things from my column with my brother that she thought he should know, knowing that he likely didn't see it.
I stood in Marquette yesterday not to report, but to simply stand in silence to offer my brother and the rest of Angela's family support in any way that I could. Every ounce of hurt and heartbreak that I have felt has been magnified significantly for that family.
I wanted to type this to hopefully break the cycle of that news release that will be shared all over the state. I want people to remember Angela in a different light. I want people to remember her as a loving mother, a great friend, a hard worker and above all, as more than the events that ended her life.
