Payton Ackerson, a sophomore at High Plains Community High School in Polk, died on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Children’s Nebraska hospital in Omaha. Ackerson’s death came following injuries she sustained in an e-bike accident.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clarks on Saturday. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery near Clarks.
