Outdoor family fun planned
Since the Central City Sportsman’s Club purchased the land that they previously leased from Merrick County, they have looked for ways to improve the club while also keeping safety a top priority. They now are looking for ways to show off the improvements to the historic club and the public will have an exciting opportunity to do just that.
In celebrating the 50th year of National Hunting and Fishing Day, the Sportsman’s Club will hold an open house on Saturday September 24, with gates opening at 9:00 am. The day will feature tours of the grounds and refreshments at the clubhouse for anyone who would like to be involved.
Club members are also asking for you to join in on the fun as they will offer a .22 silhouette shoot, skeet shoot and trap shoot with a $20 entry fee. The entry fee will also include a pork loin meal beginning at 11:00 am. The shoot will feature both adult and youth divisions and prizes will be awarded.
The Central City Sportsman’s Club is located immediately north of the Highway 14 Platte River Bridge, south of Central City. For more information contact Bob Cline at 308-940-0045.
*Another exciting opportunity for outdoor enthusiast is also coming your way the following day. On September 25, at 1:30 pm, Reel Men of Nebraska will be hosting their first ever Fishing Rod Casting Challenge at Clarke Park/the Central City Swimming Pool. Categories include ages 3-5, ages 6-10 and 11 to adult. For more information contact Mike and Vicki Hawthorne at 308-940-3093 or email reelmennebraska@gmail.com.
