The 2026 Merrick County Tire Amnesty took place last Saturday, August 22nd at the Merrick County fairgrounds. Hosted by the Merrick County Highway Department, the event gave county residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted tires free of charge.

“It went well,” said Highway Superintendent Brent Kunze on Monday, “although we collected a bit fewer tires than we would have thought.”
