For the first time in over five years, and only one of a handful of times in our newspaper’s long history, the Central City Republican-Nonpareil will experience a delay in printing due to extreme winter weather conditions. The ongoing blizzard, which has caused widespread power outages and hazardous conditions in Aurora—where our newspaper is printed—has forced us to push our printing schedule back by one day.

As a result, newspaper delivery and newsstand distribution will be delayed until Thursday, March 20. However, our e-edition will still be published as scheduled at 6 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, March 19), ensuring readers can access this week’s coverage despite the delay in physical printing.

In addition, the United States Postal Service in Central City has confirmed there will be no mail delivery on Wednesday due to the blizzard. Those who receive their newspapers by mail should expect a delay in delivery.

Due to the hazardous conditions, our office will also be closed on Wednesday, March 19.

A Blizzard Warning remains in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday, with heavy snowfall and dangerous winds persisting into the afternoon hours. Northwest wind gusts reaching 60 to 70 mph are creating whiteout conditions, making travel extremely hazardous.

As of this morning, wind gusts at the Central City airport were recorded at 56 mph. The storm is expected to significantly impact road conditions and travel throughout the day, especially during the morning hours.

We appreciate our readers' patience and understanding during this rare delay. Safety remains the top priority for both our staff and the teams working to print and deliver the newspaper. We encourage everyone to stay safe, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official updates regarding road conditions and closures.
