Never mind Newton and the apple, the discovery of the New World and the Beatles on the Sullivan show, High Plains Community football made its own history last Thursday night.
Wearing out the scorekeeper like the guy running the national debt clock, the Storm rolled to a record-setting 84-40 win over longtime power Howells-Dodge in the opening round of the Class D-1 state playoffs. High Plains played yesterday (Wednesday) against unbeaten East Butler, with the winner to face the winner of the Creighton-Clarkson/Leigh game next Tuesday.
Securing its sixth win in a row, the Storm is now 7-2 for the season.
