Museum to dedicate Portia’s playhouse, host ice cream social

On Saturday, June 29th at 3:00 p.m. the Merrick County Historical Museum will hold a dedication of Portia’s Playhouse. The public is invited to the dedication, and it will be followed by an ice cream social. Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs.
Portia’s playhouse has been gifted to the museum by the children of Portia Marsh Reeves, to honor their mother. It was built in the summer of 1915, for Portia’s 10th birthday, by “Uncle Jimmy” Saxton. Through the years the playhouse was enjoyed by family and friends, as it was located at the farm home of Fred and Ivy Marsh in the Fairview neighborhood.
