Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres have been released for emergency haying or grazing for 2013 in Merrick and Nance County.
The CRP emergency haying and grazing authorization for 2013 is effective immediately with haying to end on August 31st and grazing to end on September 30th. Eligible producers who are interested in emergency haying or grazing of CRP must request written approval from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) before haying or grazing eligible acreage. Producers must also obtain a modified conservation plan from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) that outlines permitted haying or grazing practices. There will be a 25% annual payment reduction for CRP acres used for haying or grazing under these emergency provisions.
To take advantage of these emergency provisions, authorized producers can use the CRP acreage for their own livestock or may grant another livestock producer use of the CRP acreage.
CRP producers interested in requesting a release on their land should contact Merrick County at 308-946-3035, Nance County at 308-536-2456 or their local FSA office. Additional information is also available at http://www.fsa.usda.gov/FSA/webapp?area=home&subject=copr&topic=crp-eg
