It could rain on their parade but it couldn’t drown their dream.
Before a rain soaked crowd, last Friday night the Central City football program scored its first postseason win since 1989, beating visiting Broken Bow 30-7 in the first round of Class C-1 playoffs. The home playoff game was also a first since that season 26 years ago.
Central City improves to 9-1 on the season – again, the most wins by the Bison since 1989 – and will travel to face unbeaten Wilber-Clatonia (10-0) in next Friday’s quarterfinal round, with kickoff at Wilber set for 7 p.m. It will be the first time the Bison have ever faced Wilber-Clatonia.
