The right to a preliminary hearing was been waived by the suspect in the Merrick County Sheriff Department’s audit case.
Lori Sautter waived her right to a preliminary hearing last Wednesday, taking the case to trial on August 19 at 9 a.m.
Sautter was arrested after a nearly year-long investigation into the funds found missing as part of the fiscal year audit. The audit showed a missing cash total of $5,891.00. Originally, $17,252.00 was found to be missing, but some of the funds were discovered in the drawers and files at the sheriff’s office, including $1,341.00 on March 26, 2012; $6,962.00 on April 9, 2012; and $3,058.00 on April 11, 2012, leaving a missing balance of $5,891.00.
