A. Janice Abel, 91, of Lincoln, formerly of Central City, died on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
Graveside memorial services are Thursday, July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the Central City Cemetery with Rev. Janet Burgel officiating. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com.

Ardith Janice was born on February 21, 1922 at McPherson, Kans. to Valdo and Helen (Wilson) Layton. At the age of two, she moved with her family to a farm at Nardin, Okla.. She attended her early school years in Nardin and graduated from high school in Blackwell, Okla.
Janice was united in marriage to Warren Francis Abel on August 10, 1942, at the Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kans. They both worked at Beechcraft in the airplane riveting area. In March of 1943, they began farming near Clarks. After ten years, they moved to Fort Collins, Colo. for one year; and then to Central City. In 1987, they moved to Lincoln. Throughout the years, Janice was employed in different aspects of health-related jobs.
Janice was baptized in the Nardin Baptist Church at the age of twelve and was a member of the Central City United Methodist Church. As a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Clarks, she served as Worthy Matron. Janice was a member of T.O.P.S. in both Central City and Lincoln for 28 years. She enjoyed raising her family, raising garden flowers, counted cross-stitch and reading.
She is survived by sons: Dale (Cindy) Abel and Larry Abel, all of Lincoln; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jerry) Nicholson of Santa Maria, Calif.; and very special friend, Deb Harlow of Lincoln.
Preceding Janice in death were her husband, Warren; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie (John) Patterson; brother, Verlin Layton; brother and sister-in-law; Raymond (Ethel) Layton; and grandson, Jeffrey Wade Abel.
